Are you…

Thinking of personal training as a career? Did you get into this profession because you care deeply about people?

What’s on offer here is a career move: Reimagym provides an uncommon, best-in-class training experience to the people who are most commonly overlooked or ignored by mainstream fitness. We’re relentlessly dedicated to ongoing education, training and growth—and it shows up in the outcomes we get with our members.

We’re committed to providing an excellent—and rather ridiculous—community-building, life-affirming and life-changing training experience. This job has the potential to be one of the most demanding you’ve ever had…but it will also be one of the most rewarding, enriching and satisfying.

If any of this sounds exciting to you, please read on.

About Us

Reimagym is Medford’s most unique boutique fitness studio. We are now in our third year of business and, despite opening in the early days of the pandemic, we’ve continued to grow and grow and now we need to grow our team so that we can continue to make fitness magic!

We have managed to attract a community of consistently amazing and wonderful humans. Prior to joining Reimagym, most of our members had never had a positive experience with fitness. We’re able to provide our members with a revolutionary fitness experience because of our dedication to compassion, understanding, community and fun.

As Medford’s most welcoming and LGBTQIA-friendly fitness space, we provide progressive strength training and client-centered nutrition coaching in a delivery system of quirky imagery, subversive humor, and frequent displays of fabulosity. We also have the cutest ‘gym dog’ on the block, so that kind of helps as well.

Our Values

Reimagym exists to help people to (re)discover their own inner awesomeness so that they may live their own best and most badass lives. We are here to serve those who are most often alienated or ignored by the fitness mainstream. Embracing community, compassion and a sense of fun is the core of our approach, informing all that we do. We believe we can get 1% better every day.

About This Opportunity

We’re looking for two coaches to join our delightfully nerdy (and kind of weird) fitness family. One full-time and one part-time. Both positions will report to the Head Coach (who is currently also the Co-owner) who will be there to provide training, support and tons of hugs (or if you prefer, positively aggressive two thumbs-ups). The ideal start time is within the next two weeks.

This role is primarily responsible for leading, coaching, cheering-on and generally caring for our members during any of our fitness offerings (Small Group Personal Training, 1-on-1 Training and Group Fitness Classes).

Additionally, this role will involve setting-up and putting away equipment and engaging in light cleaning and caring for our shared fitness home.

To be clear: this is not like a big-box gym personal trainer role. There is no sales expectation, nor will you be responsible for program design (we take care of both of those). You will be expected to provide high quality, mindful, detail-oriented coaching of our extensive library of exercises, along with learning and embracing our training format. We’re relentlessly committed to ongoing education, learning, growing and honing our craft–a value we expect you to embrace.

We’re looking for a person who is nice (possibly also quirky) and willing to learn our philosophy and our training system. Creating a magical experience for every person who walks in our doors is an important and challenging job, so you’ll need a passion for and experience in customer service. It would be helpful if you also have some experience in coaching and personal training.

It’s also going to be helpful if you can understand why we’re more Fosse, Fosse, jazz hands and not so much with the sportsing.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Basics:

  • Setting up and putting away equipment for each member’s training session or class.
  • Acknowledging each member upon arrival.
  • Teaching and demonstrating proper form and technique for exercises within each member’s training plan.
  • Providing brief, clear and understandable instructions and cuing.
  • Helping to maintain a clean and professional appearance in the studio.

The Secret Sauce:

  • Assessing the strengths and needs of individuals and progressing or regressing movements accordingly.
  • Creating a brave and enjoyable training setting.
  • Offering coaching and feedback with compassion and kindness.
  • Generally holding space for our members to be their full selves.
  • Cheerleading and celebrating each member’s daily journey.
  • Dedication to learning, growing and getting 1% better every day.
  • Making magic every day with your energy and magnificent humanity.

Ideal Skill Set/Prior Experience

  • Certified Personal Trainer (NASM, ACE, ACSM, or NSCA preferred)
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Customer Service Experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detail-oriented, conscientious, and incredibly dependable
  • Must work well in a team environment (plays well with others)

Compensation

The pay range for this job goes from $20/hour to $40/hour (commensurate with experience) and includes potential bonuses for high performance.

As a business, we’re relatively young. We’d like to provide health insurance…but only if we can get you a plan that’s better than what you’d get through the State. Within the next year, we plan to add a 401K.

All coaches get a complimentary 12-week membership for 2 Small Group Personal Training sessions/week.

We offer a continuing education stipend as part of our commitment to your professional growth.

Schedule

The full-time schedule for this role will include between 30 and 35 hours/week.

The part-time version of this role will involve between 15 and 25 hours/week.

Sample shifts: weekday morning 5:45 am – 1:15 pm, weekday closing 3:45pm – 8:15pm, or Saturdays 8am – 12:15 pm. These shifts are subject to change based on business needs.

We currently have a weekly ongoing education meeting we call Training Talk.
