At Reimagym, we believe food and fitness are for adding joy to your life—not stress. Too often, the world tells us that workouts are punishments for what we ate or that food is something to “earn.” (Ugh. No thanks.) I think we all know this messaging is toxic diet and fitness culture, but to how get out of that body of water and build a happier and healthier relationship with food and fitness.
And that is just what I want to talk about with you today. I want to share is how when we shift the narrative, both about food and fitness, this can become powerful tools for connection, strength, and self-care.
Here at Reimagym, we’re all about saying “f*ck off” to that outdated, shame inducing approach to health and fitness. Instead, we’re building a world where your body is celebrated just as it is and where you can actually enjoy movement and nourishment.
Fitness as Celebration
Movement isn’t about shrinking or “fixing” your body—it’s about celebrating what it can do. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and it’s about time we celebrated the real versions of ourselves. Whether that’s lifting a big kettlebell, dancing in your living room, or carrying your groceries in one trip like the everyday badass you are! Fitness should leave you feeling capable and energized—not exhausted and defeated.
Food as Nourishment and Pleasure
Food isn’t “good” or “bad.” It’s fuel, it’s culture, its connection, and yes—it’s pleasure! Focus on nourishing your body with foods that support your energy and well-being. Listen to your body—it’s way smarter than you think. Additionally, a healthy relationship with food makes space for all of that. That means learning to listen to your body, honoring your hunger, and enjoying the slice of birthday cake right alongside your colorful veggies.

It’s All About Relationship
Health is about sustainable habits—ones that make you feel energized, confident, and strong over time. Just like with people, the healthiest relationships with food and fitness are built on respect, kindness, and flexibility. Not guilt. Not shame. Just curiosity, compassion, and care. But in a world where the overwhelming message is about moralizing food or punishing fitness, how might you approach building a happier and healthier relationship with food and fitness?
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself as you delve into assessing the media you see, from newspaper articles, to social media posts to popular documentaries.
- Does the message from this media trigger me to feel shame or guilt?
- What does success look like for me on my health and fitness journey and does this media align with my journey and goals?
- Are there the tell tale red flags of toxic diet and fitness culture of before and after photos or short-term fixes.
- Is this media promoting body neutrality?
- Are the people/accounts you follow on social media inspire you to live your life with authenticity and joy?
- Is this media promoting listening to your body cues and body autonomy?
